What is Off-Peak?

“Off-Peak” is the cheapest time to travel, all year round. As a rule of thumb, this means trains departing from your starting station after 9.30am Monday to Friday, or any time on weekends or bank holidays.

Some trains departing before 9.30am also benefit from “Off-Peak” fares – the easiest way to check is to use the Great Western Railway journey planner to see available fares for your specific train.

If you are considering commuting by rail, try the season ticket calculator, which offers season tickets for one week, one month or any period up to a year. Part-time season tickets are also available.
